This quote means that if you don't have a good personality you won't be able to succeed. You can be the most intelligent person but if your not honest your not going to achieve anything. In the other hand if your honest you can achieve something. For example, if your having a math test and your lazy, so you decide to look at another persons paper you won't be successful. You didn't do it the other person did.
